Luciana was born in Rome by her parents. Luciana's father was Manlio Paoluzzi an Italian military officer. Her maternal grandmother was Maria Rota Paoluzzi who was at one time Benito Mussolini's mistresses. There is no information on whether she has any siblings. She was in a local high school. Upon matriculating in 1955 she studied navy engineering at the Scientific Academy of Milan - Luciana was the sole female in the class. In two years, she began modeling. After a while, she was offered the chance to act in Three Coins in the Fountain when she was in Rome visiting a close friend of her father. Brett Halsey, an actor himself, was her first wife. The couple also made Return to the Peyton Palace in the year 1960, after having married. They had a son named Charles born on June 13, 1961. They divorced just a year following his birth, and Luciana was given custody. Luciana had a long-term relationship with Tony Athony who was an actor and film producer. Tony was influenced by the character of Luciana as Green Slime in Green Slime to create the Spaghetti Western.
